Weekly Training Scorecard Digest: Training Health, Straight to Inboxes

Turn your training metrics — completion rate, overdue compliance, certs expiring soon, sessions this week, NPS trend, no-show rate — into a clean weekly scorecard that emails itself to leaders and managers, each seeing only their own slice, with the L&D lead approving the KPI definitions and first send before it goes recurring.

What you'll build

A logged-in tool where you import your training metrics, define the KPI set and cadence, map each recipient to the org or team they're allowed to see, the L&D lead reviews and approves the KPI definitions and recipient scoping, previews and approves the first send, and from then on Resend emails each recipient a personalized weekly scorecard — week-over-week deltas, a clear 'needs attention' section, and a CSV export of the underlying data.

Before you start

  • A Supabase account (free)
  • A Vercel account (free)
  • A Resend account (free)
  • Your training metrics as CSV or a Google Sheet (completions, compliance, certs, sessions, NPS, attendance)
  • Your recipient list with each person's scope (which org/team they should see)
  • Claude Code or any AI coding agent

The problem this kills

Every Monday the same ritual: the L&D lead opens the LMS, the compliance tracker, the certification spreadsheet, and the survey tool, and starts copy-pasting numbers into a status email for leadership. Completion rate. Who's overdue on mandatory training. Whose certifications expire this month. How many sessions ran. The NPS trend. The no-show rate. It takes the better part of a morning, and by the time it's sent it's already a little stale.

Worse, everyone gets the same email. The regional VP doesn't care about the other region's numbers, and the team manager wants their team, not the whole company — but slicing it per person is so tedious that nobody does it. So the digest is either too broad to be useful or it never gets personalized at all.

And the definitions drift. Is "overdue" 1 day late or 30? Does "completion rate" count people who haven't started? When nobody has signed off on what the KPIs actually mean, two reports disagree and leadership stops trusting the number. Training health — the thing you most want to be visible — ends up buried in a spreadsheet only you ever open.

What you'll build

A simple internal web app for your L&D team. You import your training metrics (from your tools or a Google Sheet), choose the KPI set and the send cadence, and map each recipient to the slice they're allowed to see — their own org, region, or team. The tool computes a clean weekly scorecard: completion rate, overdue compliance, certs expiring soon, sessions this week, NPS trend, and no-show rate, each with a week-over-week delta so the direction is obvious at a glance, plus a sharp "needs attention" section that surfaces only what's slipping.

The L&D lead reviews and approves the KPI definitions and the recipient scoping, then previews and approves the very first send. Only then does the recurring digest get scheduled. From that point on, Resend emails each recipient their own personalized scorecard — manager sees their team, VP sees their region — without anyone pulling a single report. And the whole dataset exports to a clean CSV whenever you need it.

What's inside the Implementation Plan

The downloadable plan is a step-by-step file you paste into an AI coding agent. It opens by interviewing you about your training operation — which systems hold your completion, compliance, cert, session, survey, and attendance data; exactly how your metrics are shaped and named; how you define each KPI (what "overdue" and "expiring soon" really mean to you); who receives the digest and which org or team each one is scoped to; your cadence; and the messy edge cases (exempt employees, grace periods, contractors, brand-new hires). It reflects a short tailored spec back to you and waits for your thumbs-up before it builds anything — so the scorecard matches how your training program actually runs, not a generic template.

From there it walks the agent through the data model, the metrics import, the per-recipient scoping, the scorecard computation with week-over-week deltas and the "needs attention" logic, the L&D lead's approval gate, the previewed first send, the recurring personalized digests through Resend, and the CSV export. Every step ends with a ready-to-copy prompt. There's a full "No API yet?" path that uses Google Sheet / CSV imports as the data source and produces a clean scorecard CSV — so you can build and run the whole thing this afternoon, no matter what LMS or survey tools you're on.

The governance it includes (this is the point)

A digest that lands in executive inboxes has to be trustworthy and tightly scoped. The plan builds in login so only your team can use the tool, row-level security so each recipient's data — and each manager's view — is limited to their own org or team (the scoping is enforced in the data feeding the email, not just in the layout), a complete audit trail of who changed which KPI definition and who approved which send, a hard human-approval gate so no recurring digest is scheduled until the L&D lead signs off on the definitions and recipient scoping and approves the first preview, and duplicate guards keyed on recipient + scorecard period so the same person can't be emailed the same week's digest twice.

Who it's for

L&D leads, training managers, and enablement teams who lose hours every week assembling status updates for leadership — and anyone who wants training health to land in the right inboxes automatically, each person seeing exactly their slice. If you can explain how you define your KPIs and who should see what, you can build this.

You've got this — start with the plan, paste the first prompt, and answer the interview. You'll have your first scorecard on screen this afternoon.
