Exec & Board Sales Report Generator

Build an internal tool that assembles your monthly or quarterly exec/board sales report — bookings vs plan, pipeline coverage, win rate, top deals, forecast, and commentary — into a clean, locked PDF, so ops stops rebuilding the same deck from scratch every cycle.

What you'll build

A login-protected app that pulls your approved sales metrics, populates a standard report template, lets the sales leader review and add commentary, locks an approved versioned PDF, distributes it by email, and exports the underlying figures as CSV.

Before you start

  • Your latest metrics exports (bookings, pipeline, forecast, win/loss) as CSV or Google Sheets
  • Your standard report template — the sections and the commentary field your board expects
  • Free accounts: Vercel, Supabase, Resend
  • No coding experience needed — you'll paste prompts into Claude Code

The problem this kills

Every month — or every quarter — someone in sales ops rebuilds the exec or board sales report from scratch. You re-export bookings, re-pull pipeline, re-copy win rate, hunt down the top deals won and lost, re-type the forecast, and then chase the sales leader for commentary. Half the time the numbers don't match the operational dashboard everyone else looks at, so you spend an afternoon reconciling instead of analyzing. The format drifts. A figure gets fat-fingered. Last quarter's file is buried in someone's downloads folder and nobody's sure which version actually went to the board.

This tool ends the rebuild. It assembles the same report, the same way, from the same approved sources, every period — and it makes the sales leader sign off before anything is locked and sent.

What you'll build

A private, login-protected web app that:

  • Pulls your sales metrics (bookings vs plan, pipeline coverage, win rate, top deals won/lost, forecast) from your approved sources.
  • Drops them into your standard report template — the exact sections your board already expects.
  • Lets the sales leader review every number, then add or edit the commentary.
  • Flags any metric that changed versus last period so nothing slips through silently.
  • Requires an explicit approval before the report can be finalized.
  • Locks the approved version, renders a clean PDF, saves it, and distributes it by email.
  • Exports the underlying figures as a CSV so the board pack always traces back to the same numbers as your dashboards.

What's inside the Implementation Plan

The plan is a complete, paste-and-go runbook for Claude Code. You don't write code — you answer questions and paste prompts.

It opens by interviewing you about your business. Before it builds anything, the plan has the AI agent ask about your real report: which metrics you publish, what your exports actually look like, how you name periods and deals, your typical and peak deal volumes, who reviews and who approves, and your messy edge cases (mid-period plan changes, reclassified deals, late-arriving bookings). It reads a short tailored spec back to you, you give a thumbs-up, and only then does it build a tool shaped to your report — not a generic template.

Inside you get: the discovery interview, the data model tuned to your metrics, the report builder, the change-vs-last-period flagging, the review-and-commentary screen, the approval-and-lock gate, PDF rendering, email distribution via Resend, and the CSV export — each step ending in a ready-to-copy prompt.

The governance it includes (this is the point)

This isn't a throwaway script — it's an auditable system your board can trust:

  • Login so only your team can open it.
  • Row-level security so people only ever see their own organization's data.
  • A complete audit trail — who pulled the numbers, who edited commentary, who approved, and exactly when.
  • A hard human-in-the-loop approval gate — the AI drafts the report; the sales leader reviews, verifies the numbers, approves; only then is it locked and distributable. Nothing goes to the board unreviewed.
  • A duplicate guard keyed on the period report id, so exactly one final report exists per period and you can't accidentally send two.
  • Versioning on every report, so you always know which file went out.

Who it's for

Sales ops managers, chiefs of staff, and sales leaders who owe a polished exec or board report every month or quarter and are tired of rebuilding it by hand. If you live in spreadsheets and slide decks and want a repeatable, governed way to produce the board pack, this is for you.

You've got this — paste the first prompt and let the agent interview you.
