Trade-Show Lead Capture & Dedupe

Capture booth leads on a tablet (or import a badge-scan CSV), tag them with event context, dedupe against your CRM, and land back home with a clean, ops-approved, rep-routed follow-up list.

What you'll build

A private web tool where your team captures or imports show leads, sees them tagged and deduped against your CRM, approves create/merge decisions, routes leads to reps, and exports a CRM-ready CSV.

Before you start

  • A free Vercel account
  • A free Supabase account
  • A free Resend account
  • A badge-scan CSV or a list of fields you collect at the booth

The problem this kills

You fly home from a three-day trade show with a tablet full of half-typed names, a badge-scan CSV from the booth vendor, and a stack of business cards with coffee rings on them. By the time someone cleans it all up, normalizes the company names, figures out which leads are already in your CRM, and routes them to the right reps, two weeks have gone by - and a hot lead has gone cold.

Worse, half of those "new" leads are duplicates of existing accounts. Push them into the CRM raw and you create messy double records, reps step on each other, and your pipeline numbers lie to you.

This tool turns the post-show scramble into a calm, controlled review. Leads come in, they get tagged with the event, they get deduped against your existing contacts, a human approves every create-or-merge decision, and reps get a clean list - before you've even unpacked your suitcase.

What you'll build

A private internal web app that:

  • Lets booth staff capture leads on a tablet with a fast form (name, company, email, interest, hot/warm/cold, rep notes) - or import a badge-scan CSV from the show.
  • Tags every lead with event context (which show, which booth, which day, who captured it).
  • Normalizes company names and emails, then dedupes each lead against your existing CRM contacts using a smart key (lowercased email + normalized company).
  • Shows ops a review queue of every lead with a suggested action: create new, merge into existing, or skip duplicate.
  • Makes a person approve each create/merge decision before anything is committed - the AI suggests, you decide.
  • Routes approved leads to the right rep by your own rules.
  • Exports a CRM-ready CSV in exactly the columns your CRM expects.

What's inside the Implementation Plan

The plan is a complete, paste-and-go runbook. The very first thing it does is interview you about your business - your show workflow, the fields you actually collect at the booth, how your badge-scan CSV is shaped, your dedupe and routing rules, and your messiest edge cases. It reads back a short tailored spec, waits for your thumbs-up, and only then builds. You get a tool shaped around how your team really works at shows, not a generic template.

Inside you'll find: a step-by-step build (each step ends with a prompt you copy and paste into your AI coding assistant), the exact data model for leads and events, the dedupe and routing logic, the human approval gate, and the CSV import/export fallback so it works even if you never touch a CRM API.

The governance it includes (this is the point)

  • Login so only your team can open the tool.
  • Row-level security so each organization only ever sees its own leads and events.
  • A full audit trail - who captured, edited, approved, merged, or exported each lead, and exactly when.
  • A human-in-the-loop approval gate - the tool drafts create/merge/route decisions; a person reviews and approves before anything is written or exported. No silent CRM writes.
  • Duplicate guards - the same badge or email can't be processed twice, even if you import the CSV twice.

Who it's for

Event and field marketing ops who come home from trade shows and webinars with messy badge dumps and a follow-up clock ticking. If you're the person who has to make sense of the lead pile before sales complains, this one's for you. No coding background needed.

You've got this - paste the first prompt and let the agent interview you.
