SEO Content Brief Builder

Turn a target keyword and audience into a complete, structured content brief - title options, search intent, outline, the questions to answer, suggested internal links, and a word-count target - that a writer can run with, with a human approval gate before any brief is released.

What you'll build

A private internal tool where you enter a keyword + audience, the AI drafts a full content brief (intent, outline, questions, internal links, length), your content lead edits and approves it, the approved brief is released to the writer, and you export it as markdown or CSV - all with login, audit trail, duplicate guards, and a human approval gate.

Before you start

  • A target keyword/topic, the audience, and your business angle for each piece
  • An internal-pages list (CSV): page title, URL, and a short description for link suggestions
  • Free accounts: Vercel, Supabase, Resend
  • Claude Code installed on a Linux machine

The problem this kills

Every writer who hands you a flat, off-target draft started from a vague brief - or no brief at all. Writing a real content brief from scratch is slow and fiddly: figure out the search intent, draft title options, build an outline, list the questions the piece must answer, dig up the right internal links, and set a sensible word-count target. So you either spend an hour per brief, or you fire off a one-line topic and hope for the best. Then you pay for it in rewrites.

Dedicated SEO brief tools exist, but they're another monthly subscription, they don't know your business angle, and their internal-link suggestions are useless because they don't know your site. You don't need that. You need a tool that drafts a strong first brief from your keyword and audience, pulls link suggestions from your own page list, and lets your content lead edit and approve it before it ever reaches a writer. This plan builds exactly that.

What you'll build

A small, private web app - just for your team - that:

  • Takes a target keyword/topic, the audience, and your business angle as input.
  • Has the AI draft a structured brief: working title options, the likely search intent, a section-by-section outline, the key questions the piece must answer, a word-count target, and suggested internal links.
  • Pulls internal link suggestions from your own uploaded page list - not random guesses.
  • Tags every AI claim as "verify" so nobody mistakes a draft for the truth.
  • Lets your content lead edit and approve the brief - the brief of record is the human-approved one, never raw AI output.
  • Releases the approved brief to the writer and exports it as clean markdown or CSV.
  • Blocks duplicate briefs so two people don't write briefs targeting the same keyword and the same page.

What's inside the Implementation Plan

The plan opens by interviewing you about your business - your content workflow today, who briefs and who writes, how your keywords and target URLs are named, your house outline style, your typical and peak brief volumes, your approval rule, and your messy edge cases (a keyword that maps to a page you already have, briefs with no good internal links, bulk keyword drops). It reflects a short tailored spec back to you and waits for your thumbs-up before building a single thing. You get a tool shaped around how your team actually produces content, not a generic template.

From there it's a step-by-step build: the data model, the input form, the AI brief drafter (with every claim tagged "verify"), internal-link matching from your page list, the edit-and-approve gate, duplicate guards on keyword + intended URL, the audit trail, and the markdown/CSV exports. Every step ends with a ready-to-paste prompt.

The governance it includes (this is the point)

  • Login so only your team can open the tool.
  • Row-level security so each organization only ever sees its own briefs and page list.
  • A full audit trail - who drafted, who edited, who approved which brief, and when.
  • A hard human-in-the-loop approval gate - the AI drafts, your content lead reviews and edits, and only an approved brief is released to a writer.
  • Duplicate guards - the same keyword + intended URL can't be turned into two competing briefs.

Who it's for

Content and SEO managers who waste time writing briefs from scratch, or who hand writers a vague topic and get back something off-target. If you can type a keyword and upload a list of your pages, you can run this.

You've got this - paste the first prompt and let's build it.
